My Top 30 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Part 4

From H-L...

Homework
UK release date: TBA
Genre: Romance
IMDb summary: George, a lonely and fatalistic teen who's made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, is befriended by Sally, a popular but complicated girl who recognises in him a kindred spirit.
Starring two potentially brilliant young actors Freddie Highmore and Emma Roberts, I’m not pretending this film will be a cinema masterpiece. What I am hoping for is some beautiful understated performances and a nicely shot film that will tug at a few heart strings. There’s nothing wrong with that. With pretty warm reviews from Sundance, Homework could be a surprise hit.

The Impossible
UK release date: TBA
Genre: Drama, Action
IMDb summary: An account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time.

No Trailer Released Yet.

Starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, The Impossible is still in post-production so not much is known about it. The Tsunami is recent history, happening Boxing Day 2004, but 6 years on Hollywood has decided to tell its story. This will probably draw in cinema goers due to the nature of the event, so I hope they do it justice.

Jane Eyre
UK release date: 9th September 2011
Genre: Drama, Romance
IMDb summary: After a bleak childhood, Jane Eyre goes out into the world to become a governess. As she lives happily in her new position at Thornfield Hall, she meet the dark, cold, and abrupt master of the house, Mr. Rochester. Jane and her employer grow close in friendship and she soon finds herself falling in love with him. Happiness seems to have found Jane at last, but could Mr. Rochester's terrible secret be about to destroy it forever?
With Judi Dench and the wonderful relative newcomer Imogen Poots among the supporting cast, Michael Fassbender (Also starring in A Dangerous Method) stars as Edward Rochester and Mia Wasikowska is the lead as Jane Eyre. From what I’ve heard director Cary Fukunga is attempting to bring Jane Eyre back to its Charlotte Bronte novel roots as a gothic horror novel. Many previous dramatisations have focused primarily on the romance between Mr Rochester and Jane, What this film promises is a darker take on the novel, something which I’m very much looking forward to.
Life in a Day
UK release date: TBA
Genre: Documentary
IMDb summary: A documentary shot by filmmakers all over the world that serves as a time capsule to show future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010.
Life in a Day premiered on YouTube and at Sundance, simultaneously on the 27th January 2011. Just the premise, so simple, yet extraordinary makes me believe this will be one fantastic film. From Ridley Scott and Kevin MacDonald, Life in a Day is independent and was put together by contributions from YouTube so it really is a worldwide community film. Unique, there really is no other film like it, and there never will be again.
The Lucky One
UK release date: TBA
Genre: Drama, Romance
IMDb summary: A Marine returns to North Carolina after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war.

No Trailer Released Yet.

Based on a Nicholas Sparks novel Warner Brothers are attempting to pull in the romance lovers with another adaptation of Sparks’. I don’t blame them what with his six of his books now being released as films, and almost all (especially in the last couple of years) receiving box office success. Expect subtle humour, and some tears in the last act. Currently Zac Efron is signed up as one of the leads, but don’t let that put you off as he seems to be transformed and looking fine as a Marine should do. There are also rumours that Daniel Radcliffe will be joining the cast.
(Technically it looks set to be released in 2012, but that doesn’t mean I can’t anticipate it in 2011!)
