My Review: This is a very special film and a MUST-SEE if there ever was one.
Only knowing whispers of its rave reviews and reputation of being unusual, I began to watch this film, with the intention of just watching 10 minutes over breakfast. 10 mins soon turned into 40 and I spent the rest of the afternoon in anticipation of the rest of the film.
Eternal Sunshine draws you in effortlessly, immediately empathising with Clementine and Joel played by Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, two of the finest actors on the planet. Moving back and forwards through time and reality and Joel’s head the story weaves a picture of everlasting love, that not even when their memories of each other being erased can keep them from falling in love with each other.
This film is a beautiful, dark, intelligent masterpiece, that has so many depths and subtleties that it’s impossible to stop thinking about.
I really can’t wait to see it again, so much so I’m buying the DVD. Now...
Score: 9.5/10
