Being Human: S4 Ep6 - Puppy Love

On TV: Sunday 11th March 2012
Channel: BBC Three 9pm
Episode Type: 6/8
In 1 Sentence: Love is in the air as hope and death collide this week...
BBC Summary: Annie accidentally kills a cantankerous old neighbour, Tom falls for geek werewolf Allison, and Hal gets his first date in half a century.

My Review: We are nearing the end of this series and so there is some deliciously sweet moments as both Tom and Hal meet some new love interests. Firstly we meet Allison who we see run away from home; she is wonderfully spirited, sweet and clever and so, naturally, Tom falls for her right away as they both fight to find out what’s going on. A cheesy love montage follows... but I forgive them because it’s too cute for words. Ellie Kendrick, who I last saw in Anne Frank a good few years ago, is outstanding as she portrays a girl not only coming to terms with being a werewolf but with how to deal with vicious vampires and soppy Tom. It seems like Tom breaks down in tears every week and once again you can’t help but feel sorry for him as his heart breaks once more.
I really do hope he finds some sort of happiness by the finale!
Next comes Hal, sweet shy Hal, who meets Alex over the counter of the cafe and who seems like the perfect fit. However... half a century of no female contact means he’s - just a tad - socially awkward and so things don’t completely go to plan.
Annie’s storyline this week involved her, hilariously, accidentally killing some annoying old man and then sets about resolving his unsolved business so that he can (finally!) leave this earth. This leads to some very moving moments, and less than subtle hints to the finale.
The episode ended with Eve talking to Annie (or “Mum”) for the first time. We haven’t heard from Eve for a while and this story arc has been more than a little bit messy but it seems next week we’ll finally see what it’s all about...
Score: 8.5/10
