IMDb Plot Summary: A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community.

A Quick Review: Based on the Joanne Harris novel, Chocolat is a charming, delightful film set in a quaint French village where the residents cling on to their religious morals. In comes the wonderful Juliette Binoche and her daughter to open up a chocolaterie in lent and the pot is well and truly stirred. Judi Dench and Alfred Molina add to the gentle humour and Johnny Depp playing an Irish pirate-of-sorts adds warmth and romance to an otherwise cozy plot.
I loved the warmth of the characters, and the comfortable, snug, old-style European feeling it gave me as I watched the film. And of course the chocolate! Overall: an effortless to watch, delicious film!
Score: 7.5/10
