Comic Relief (Fail)

Comic Relief is almost here and this year Red Nose Day is happening on Friday 18th March 2011.
As always the BBC have put on a spread of wonderfully varied fund-raising programmes to entice us all to donate.
Here are all of the highlights and more...

The programme that is leading the pack at the moment is 'Famous Rich & In The Slums'.
The first part was shown last Thursday (and can be watched on IPlayer here) and the last half will be shown this Thursday, the 10th March on BBC1 at 9pm.
Different to the usual 'celebrity visits Africa documentary' this really hits home and I would definitely recommend it!

Next up is a video from the brilliant Charlie McDonnell, which was the inspiration for the title of this post. Starring Tim Minchin, it is as Charlie puts it: The story of what happened when I tried to make a video for Comic Relief, but failed miserably.

Another programme of note is 'The Big Red Nose Desert Trek' which is shown next Thursday (17th March) on BBC1 at 9pm.
Anyone who listens to Radio 1 will definitely of heard of this amazing trek. Nine celebrities - Dermot O'Leary, Scott Mills, Craig David, Kara Tointon, Peter White, Ronnie Ancona, Olly Murs, Lorraine Kelly and Nadia Sawalha - managed to trek 100km across the Kenyan desert for five days. Worth a watch.

Also in the news recently is David Walliams completion of the UK's first live 24-hour panel show. Joined by several other celebrity guests (including David Tennant, Stephen Fry, David Mitchell, Miranda Hart, Russell Tovey and Barbara Windsor), Walliams switched between the roles of host, team captain and panellist in some of the UK's best panel shows, including Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You?
24 Hour Panel People will be shown all next week as five 1/2 hour shows, starting from Sunday 13th on BBC3 at 10pm.

Other programmes include...
Comic Relief Does Glee Club - all next week from Monday on BBC1 at 5.15pm.
Let's Dance For Comic Relief - Final - finalists include Katie Price, Noel Fielding and Russell Kane all battling to win this Saturday on BBC1 at 7.10 pm.

And of course the big night itself on Friday 18th March starting at 7pm on BBC1 and continuing to the early hours of the morning.

Highlights to watch out for are...
- An Inbetweeners road trip around the rudest places in Britain
- A special edition of Outnumbered featuring Andy Murray
- A mini episode of Doctor Who - featuring two Amy Ponds!
- A Downton Abbey Spoof featuring Jennifer Saunders, Victoria Wood, Joanna Lumley and Kim Cattrall
- Miranda Hart, Ruby Wax and Claudia Winklemen compete on Celebrity Masterchef
- A 10 minute edition of Eastenders resolving Whitney's teenage prostitution storyline
- James Corden's latest sketch with Smithy
- A Harry Hill special with wildlife friends
- Also performances from Adele, JLS, Take That and The Wanted

Unmissable! Make sure to tune in Friday 18th March BBC1 7pm - and don't forget to donate!
