Brighton Rock

UK Release: 4th February 2011
Watched in the cinema: Wednesday 9th March 2011
Rating: 15
Runtime: 2hrs 5mins
Plot Summary: Adapted from Graham Greene’s brilliant 1939 novel, Brighton Rock charts the headlong fall of Pinkie, a razor-wielding disadvantaged teenager.
A Quick Review: Brighton Rock finally reached my local cinema this week and I was itching to see it. It didn't disappoint!
A crime, drama and thriller - Brighton Rock starts off on a high and stays there right up to the twisted end.
Dark and suspenseful it is shot beautifully, capturing the 1960’s Brighton essence. Superb acting as always from Helen Mirren and from the new faces Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough.
The ending was a genuine surprise (being of an age where I’d never heard or seen of the book or previous film adaptation) which was great in the day and age of spoilers and previews.
Definitely go and see it if you can as it has made my week!
Score: 9/10
