IMDb Plot Synopsis: A romantic drama set in New York City during the summer of 2001, where Tyler, a rebellious young man, meets Ally through a twist of fate. Her spirit helps him heal after a family tragedy, though soon the circumstances that brought them together threaten to tear them apart.

My Review: This film gets to the the emotional core of life. It manages to do so because it is so very realistic that many moments grasp at your heart. This isn’t just a romantic film it is first and foremost a drama about grief. Two people, Tyler (played spectacularly by Robert Pattinson) and Ally (played by Emilie de Ravin who was also superb), have lost two very important people in their lives and, in finding each other, manage to find some sense in the world. It is very moving and so effortless to watch as it is so beautifully executed.
The scenes between Tyler and his younger sister (played by Ruby Jerins who blew me away) Caroline were particuarly fantastic to watch as they had so much maturity and poignancy, but ultimately just felt oh so real.
There was no gloss over New York or their relationship, it was just as it is. Which made the ending even more heart-breaking. Simply stunning.
Score: 9/10
