IMDb Plot Synopsis: Julie and Jason have been best friends for years with no romantic interest in each other. He sleeps with someone new every few days, and she's looking for Mr. Right. Now in their thirties, they notice that their friends seem to lose all their good qualities when they have children - child rearing and the spark of Eros don't seem to co-exist. So, they decide to have a child together, share in child rearing, but pursue their own romantic lives. Things go well until he meets Mary Jane and she meets Kurt. Both seem like perfect mates. What could go wrong?

My Review: As a big fan of Bridesmaids I was immediately intrigued to see this film and just as expected it was funny as hell. It has an altogether different tone to Bridesmaids, despite starring pretty much all the same actors (although coupled with different people which was confusing at first!) it felt much more grown-up, which I suppose was the point!
Despite all the great guest performances the story focused mainly on Julie and Jason, played by Jennifer Westfeldt and Adam Scott, which are familiar faces but haven’t really played leads before. They were really the heart of this film and without the hugely tense, yet wonderfully romantic, will-they-won’t-they I don’t think I would have enjoyed this half as much. This really was a actors film, with emotion and comedy filled to the brim. I was so surprised at just how emotional it got actually, especially toward the end and while I found it hilarious, I was glad to find some heart to balance it off too. It was generally much better than I expected, but I think comedy fans hoping for a sort of un-official sequel to Bridesmaids will be sadly disappointed as this was much more of a romantic rom-com than a comedic one.

Score: 7.5/10
