IMDb Plot Synopsis: Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan with a few friends and who lives alone with his father. His life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming. However, one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.

My Review: This was a terrific film! And I’m glad it was after all the hype over the years and the wanting to watch it but never-quite-getting-the-chance I was overjoyed to see it on LoveFilm Instant as part of my package. It took a little while to get into the swing of things but it’s so well written that you fall in love with the characters from the word go.
In many ways this is has an old-school comic book feel as there are the ‘bad guys’ and the ‘good guys’. However the good guys aren’t averse to killing either. There was surprisingly a lot of emotion involved too and it was hell of a thrilling ride to the fantastic finale that’s just begging for a sequel (which I believe is coming)!
Basically, my first word as the credits rolled was “fantastic!” and the film is hard not to love. It’s a reasonably simple story but brilliantly shot and executed for modern audiences - and a few twists and turns thrown in there too to keep things interesting!
If you get the chance find a way to watch it as it’s become a cult classic and with a sequel on the way there’s no excuse - plus it’s hilarious!
Score: 9/10
