My Review: Wow. After anticipating the shows return for, I don’t know how many months, I’m very glad it has returned. The finale of last season was electric and the shocks and twists keep on coming in this episode. The love triangle between vampire brothers Damon and Stefan and human/doppelgänger Elena is more fraught than ever as Stefan has turned evil (or has he?) joining forces with Klaus a vampire/werewolf hybrid, intent on finding another werewolf to turn into one of him and start creating an army. With Stefan away and on the eve of Elena’s 18th birthday, Elena’s missing him badly but has Damon to keep a watchful eye over her. Elena has definitely matured a great deal and is much more independent and strong than she has been in the past. Let’s face it she has been a little weak, naive and a martyr but she seems to have found her feet after the death of her aunt and guardian Jenna.
Another thrilling storyline that has had me enchanted from the very beginning is the relationship between Caroline and Tyler. As humans their chemistry was on and off but now, as vampire and werewolf, sparks are flying and a very satisfying hook up ends the episode. And of course a shock from Tyler’s mother. I can’t wait to find out what happens next! That’s what The Vampire Diaries is all about... sharp dialogue, irresistible plot twists and heart-wrenching cliff hangers that leave you begging for more...
Score: 8.5/10
