Forgetting Sarah Marshall

UK Release: 25th April 2008
Watched on TV: Tuesday 28th June 2011
Rating: 15
Genre: Comedy, Drama,
Runtime: 1hr 51mins
Tagline: A comedy about getting dumped, and taking it like a man.

IMDb Plot Summary: Devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah's traveling to the same resort as her ex ... and she's bringing along her new boyfriend.

A Quick Review: This film was a little blah. The lead character, Peter, played by Jason Segel was nice enough and Sarah Marshall’s character (Kristen Bell) was actually fleshed out, but the other characters, including Russell Brand’s rock star ‘Aldous Snow’ were ridiculously shallow. Brand seemed to be playing a parody of himself. And not very well.
If it wasn’t for Segel I would have turned off as he was geniunely charming and funny, but it was Mila Kunis for whom I stayed. After seeing her be so brilliant in Black Swan recently I was intrigued to see her do comedy. And pull it off at that.
Segel and Kunis managed to pull it together, making for a sweet ending, which made the film worth watching.
It ended up being not that bad. Certainly better than previous 'hits' 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, who were patronisingly sexist.
At least Forgetting Sarah Marshall had a heart.

Score: 6/10
