My Review: What seems to be popular these days are the interconnecting story romantic comedies stuffed full of stars. And while it certainly has quantity many say it lacks quality, something which I decided to put to the test, having never seen one before.
While many characters had no place in the film (e.g. Drew Barrymore’s Mary) others were really interesting - my favourite being Bradley Cooper’s Ben. His storyline with wife Jennifer Connelly and Scarlett Johansson was the most developed and interesting. Others nowhere as original, except for the lovely Gigi’s played by Ginnifer Goodwin (who I hadn’t come across before) who seemed to be set up as the main character of the film. Her quest to find a guy was sweetly done and the perhaps obvious storyline with Justin Long was heartening and satisfying to see play out. Other storylines include Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck who have been together for 7 years, but Aniston wants to get married and Kevin Connolly who seems to date most of the women in the film before finally settling on one - a slimy guy but he adds some comedy. A liked the variety of the actors - some serious, some comedic, it made it a little less predictable and more fun to watch.
Gentle, funny and heartwarming mush but I love it all the same!
Score: 7.5/10
