November Top 20: Part 1

Welcome to this month's Top 20, and with only a month to go until 2013 there's been quite a few great new releases. Next month I'm sure more than a few Christmas songs will make it into the list... oh no wait, there already is one! The Power of Love by Gabrielle Aplin is featured on the John Lewis Christmas advert and I'm liking it! It's definitely kick-started that Christmas-y mood that has begun to descend on us. But for now, here's numbers 20-11 and look out for this weekend's post to find out what made my number one spot...

Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven

TUNE OF THE DAY #76
This song has soul! I was shocked to find out this was a Bruno Mars song but then I suppose I shouldn't be surprised he would progress to a much more funky, catchy-as-hell song! I just can't get enough of these old-school vibes (while being ridiculously modern at the same time - how does he do that!) and the video has that retro feel that matches the song perfectly. Love, love, love.

Looper: The Second Time Around

To see my original review click here.

I had the chance to see Looper again on Sunday for a bargain price and I jumped at the opportunity. Looper is one of my favourite films of the year and I’ve been waiting in anticipation for the DVD, so to have the chance to see it again on the big screen for half the price of a normal ticket at my local university’s campus cinema - there was no thinking needed!
However, seeing it again a month or so later has made me see it in a different way...

Coldplay - Hurts Like Heaven

TUNE OF THE DAY #75
This is the ultimate up-beat song which is much needed in these bleak November days! A few days ago I woke up and switched on the radio and it was only when I heard the first notes of this song that a smile formed on my face and I got the kickstart I needed to actually leave the warmth of my bed! It's insanely catchy and has been floating around my head for days now. But then what Coldplay song isn't ridiculously catchy? Coldplay remain on form...

My Recent TV Obsessions...

I am one of those people that bounce from one fantastic boxset to the next and am always gripped with obsession for one show or another.
Recently there have been so many great shows (both being broadcast now and from days gone by) that my desk is piled high with them and my internet constantly streaming from iPlayer, 4OD and LoveFilm.
So where to begin? Below is a list, in no particular order, of fantastic shows that I could not live without at the moment...

Community
Definitely one of the funniest shows on the box right now I've sailed through season 1 in a matter of days - it's just so addictive! Season 2 has been ordered and is on it's way!

Never Let Me Go - Florence + The Machine

TUNE OF THE DAY #74
This beautiful song has been in my head all day and while it may not be new it certainly deserves every single listen it can get. I think I first appreciated it after seeing it on The Vampire Diaries a week or so ago and, I don't know, I think the emotions of the song really shone through to me.
Have a good weekend!
