IMDb Plot Synopsis: While examining the influence of the fast food industry, Morgan Spurlock personally explores the consequences on his health of a diet of solely McDonald's food for one month.
My Review: I’d obviously heard quite a bit about Super Size Me and from previous reviews it looked to be an interesting documentary on obese and capitalist America. Thankfully I wasn’t proved wrong and if anything it was much more clever and insightful than I was expecting.
We follow Morgan through a months journey of pushing his body to the limits by consuming only McDonalds products for 30 days. It was shocking to see what this did to him and his journey was interspersed with looking at the different elements of McDonalds and the fast-food culture that surrounds it. It was incredibly thought-provoking, funny and gripping as you feared for Morgan’s life at many of a time.
Somehow Super Size Me managed to pull off being both entertaining and educational at the same time which is a rarity in my books. Just don’t judge me when I ended up having a bit of a guilty craving for McDonalds afterwards...
Score: 7.5/10
