A Quick Review: After the magic of Hot Rod I was primed for another laugh a minute comedy. This isn’t one of those. Instead what we have here is a very slow, awkward film that took a while to grow on me. By the end I was able to appreciate it for what it was, which may well be because more happens in the last half hour of the film than the rest combined. What it is may be awkward and quirky and well... odd. But is also human. Each relationship in the film is very real and you can’t help but emphasise with them all as they each carry a little part of everybody in them. I’m not sure if I’ll hurry to see this film again but I’d recommend it if you want to watch a film that is completely ‘tame’ in the sense that it has no profanity, sex or violence while it is also very calming (whilst a tad depressing I have to say) and still quite grown up.
Score: 7/10
