This film is without a doubt, my most anticipated film of the year.
Since reading the book by Kazuo Ishiguro over the summer I completely fell for the story, the characters, the writing: the whole book.
And once I found out Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield were involved i was ecstatic as I knew this beloved book was in extra special hands.
Like everyone, in October, I saw The Social Network and was blown away by it, especially Andrew Garfield so I’m very pleased that he stars as Tommy, who is such an interesting character; as are all 3 of the stars.
Anyone who hasn’t read the book, i urge you to as it is truly one of those one-off, take-your-breath-away books.
And I urge you even more so to watch the film, I just hope it lives up to my expectations!

Plot Summary: One Day charts an extraordinary relationship.
Emma and Dexter meet on the night of their college graduation – July 15th, 1988. She is a working-class girl of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place. He is a wealthy charmer who dreams that the world will be his playground.
For the next two decades, every July 15th reveals to us how Em and Dex are faring, as their friendship ebbs and flows with the passing of the years. Through laughter and romance, heartbreak and exhilaration, they experience the grandeur of life. Somewhere along their journey, these two people realise that what they are searching and hoping for has been there for them all along.

Wow, another of my favourite books being adapted into a film, I really do hope I’m not too disappointed by them both!
One Day was an incredible book so I expect no less of the film. Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess star as Emma and Dexter who we visit, each day, over the course of about 20 years. The funny, clever and touching book will hopefully translate to an equally beautiful film, which I absolutely cannot wait to see.

Thoughts: The premise for Tiny Furniture is intriguing albeit slightly pretentious. I'm not sure if the critics warmed to this, let alone the audiences but it's inspiring to see how female independent filmmakers have managed to release a film - whether it's any good or not remains to be seen.
