A Quick Review: After being drawn in by the trailer and in the mood for an bit of an artsy film I was curious to see Across the Universe. Unfortunately it was a rather disappointing experience.
Dreadfully drawn out, painfully cheesy at times and so bizarre it made you question what the filmmakers were on - this is one quirky film which was very hard to like. I usually enjoy mash-ups of songs, times and places (such as in Moulin Rouge) but this didn’t quite work.

It had heart though I’ll give it that. You could tell the actors were invested and they gave decent performances. I just don’t know if even they knew what was going on half the time. In fact most of the film made little sense and felt very unnecessary. It also helps to not only be a Beatles fan but to not mind them being somewhat abused.
Oh well, I gave it a go - it just wasn’t as good as I was hoping.
Score: 5.5/10
