IMDb Plot Synopsis: Chronicles a man who is obsessively interested in only one thing, the pictures he takes that document the way people dress. The 80-year-old New York Times photographer has two columns in the paper's Style section, yet nobody knows who he is.
My Review: After being inspired by the incredible Bill Cunningham during my AS-Level Photography course last year I’ve been itching to see this documentary which has been said to be ‘the’ fashion/street photography documentary. I love fashion like anyone else - I adore The Devil Wears Prada and The September Issue - and so was fascinated to see not just the study of the trends or the process but the photographer himself.
And he makes a great subject as he is an elusive man with his blue coat on his bicycle, riding around New York capturing fashion as it happens - and has done for decades. It’s just so inspiring as you can see the commitment and passion reeling off of him - you just can’t help but be captivated by what he has to say. I loved it. It manages to give us a glimpse into his every day life while style retaining that sense of legendary mystery which keeps him so very interesting...
