Tagline: He’s 23. She’s 30 (something). They’re both in their Prime... and that’s the problem.
DVD Blurb: Prime is the hilarious and sexy romantic comedy set in New York, starring Academy Award-nominee Uma tHurman and Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep. When sophisticated career-driven Rafi (Thurman), meets David (Bryan Greenberg), it’s love at first sight. But that love gets complicated - fast! Not only is David 23 to her 30-something, he’s also the son of Rafi’s therapist (a scene stealing Streep)! Professional help is about to get very personal in this entertaining and irresistibly charming comedy.
A Quick Review: Prime is more than just a standard Hollywood Rom-Com. Meryl Streep features heavily in the trailer (above) and she definitely adds a touch of class and is brilliant as the Rafi’s therapist and Dave’s mother. But she is just a small part of the film.
The chemistry between Uma Thurman as Rafi and Bryan Greenberg as Dave is really believable and just electric on-screen. There are so many tender, subtle, beautiful moments in the film.
The ending alone is enough to seperate it from the rest. Because there is no ‘happy’ ending.
It’s more than a love story - it is a story about two people finding themselves and working out what love is and what is important in life for them. It’s a lesson we all need to learn.
Score: 8.5/10
