IMDb Plot Summary: Casanova is love with Francesca, who thinks he is a friend of himself even though he is engaged to Victoria, who is the love of Giovanni, Francessca's brother. Francessca is betrothed to Paprizzio who thinks Casanova is the feminist writer Guardi, who is really Francessca's nomme de plume. Amidst all these secret identities and misunderstandings, the Catholic Church sends Pucci to bring Casanova and Guardi to trial for heresy.
A Quick Review: Casanova is great fun. Lavish costumes, plenty of action, brilliant acting, an addictive plot - you can’t ask for more. Heath Ledger, Sienna Miller and Omid Djalili are the stand-out performers.
What I love about Casanova is how it mixes comedy with romance and it doesn’t shy away from the cheesy stuff. Fantastic for a lazy Sunday afternoon, it’s complex enough (see the above plot summary!) for it to never get boring as you have to keep on track on who Casanova is to who etc.
A definite recommendation from me!
Score: 7.5/10
