IMDb Plot Summary: Cher, a high school student in Beverly Hills, must survive the ups and downs of adolescent life. Her external demeanor at first seems superficial, but rather it hides her wit, charm, and intelligence which help her to deal with relationships, friends, family, school, and the all-important teenage social life.
A Quick Review: Alicia Silverstone plays the lead in this fun film that basically parodies nineties fashion and high-school slang while still being funny and warm. Nicely acted by mostly forgotten actors, with a few exceptions: one being Brittany Murphy, Clueless being the film that thrust her into Hollywood’s attention and the other being Paul Rudd, now famous for films including Role Models, Knocked Up and I Love You, Man.
He makes the film for me, in fact I think I am a little bit in love with Paul Rudd.
Mostly this film is perfect for a girly night in, when you can appreciate the humour (as shown in the trailer) and its sweetness.
It certainly isn’t an oscar-worthy film but does well for what it is, and will probably remain a 90’s cult classic.
Score: 6.5/10
