IMDb Plot Synopsis: A Hollywood-set romantic tale of a guy who is content to live his life without a job yet with the love of his life, a young actress.
My Review: Confession time. The only reason I bought this film is that I was missing The OC and so wanted to see if I could find any of the actors other work and give it a go in an attempt to fill the void. Rachel Bilson was hilarious as the beautiful Summer but unfortunately Waiting for Forever didn’t quite work in showing off her talents. It was awkward and weird and not in the least bit romantic. In fact Tom Sturridge’s character bordered on creepy and you never got the pay-off you wanted.
I was really rather disappointed but the few saving grace’s were the brother’s relationship between Sturridge and Scott Mechlowicz which felt warm and understated. In fact it was one of the few realistic relationships in the whole film. Emma’s dying dad storyline didn’t make much sense either, but at least it attempted to add some more depth to the character.
Yet without any sort of satisfactory conclusion or chemistry between the leads the whole thing felt like a non-starter.
Score: 5.5/10
